Evaluation Question (3) What have you learnt from your audience feedback ?
Whilst creating my main film and ancillary tasks I have asked my target audience for feedback on how effective my film Is and how can improve it ? I have also asked the same about my film poster and two page magazine review.
When creating the film poster I gathered together a focus group of people of the same age as my target audience and shared my work. Creating a questionnaire asking questions about the appearance of the film poster and if it gives the viewer enough information about the film without giving the plot away. The main criticism of my film poster was that it did not look like a modern day film poster and that perhaps reviews featured on it and social network links could help with this, so in response I added on reviews from famous film magazines (Sight and Sound, Empire Magazine) and a well know newspaper (The Sun) that my target audience will most likely read.
For another one of my ancillary tasks, the magazine review, I created a questionnaire that I distributed thought people aged 14 to 25, this was in order to get as much feedback as possible, when given my magazine review there only criticism was that they was not enough images about the film and it was not colourful enough. In response to this I added a larger title in red that was the same font that is on my film poster and I also added in screen shots from within the film and an example of the film poster. I decided to not add in any more colour because I believe that it will be too distracting when reading the article.
In addition to this I have created both a Facebook page and Twitter account in order to get more audience feedback from a wider audience that would be interested in films such as mine, unfortunately no one commented on the Facebook page because of lack of publicity and this was the same with the twitter account but in my opinion it would of been a good way to reach the target audience and get there honest opinion on the film and use the criticisms to make my film and ancillary tasks better. In addition to feedback from my audience I also received feedback during post production on my script by a professional script writer. Within the conversation he states that it may be a good idea for the zombies featured within my film not to be shown and only implied through the use of sound and within the dialog. I thought that this was a fantastic idea and have applied it in the film and it has made it a lot better.
Evaluation Question (2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?
My three products are my final film Run, the movie poster and my own variation of an Empire Magazine review of my film. In order to make my products obviously appear linked I have used a range of similar images such as the painting which is the main image of my movie poster and is also featured within the magazine review followed by the title font for the film and screen shots within my film. The repeated uses of images, colors, fonts, ect makes the ancillary tasks appear as one whole finished product, as though they have been branded
A brand is a type of product manufactured by a particular company under a particular name. In my opinion I have created a brand identity for my product. The way my product looks taps in to an already established market and by creating these original looking products; I have created a brand that has an established target audience.
I believe the magazine review and the poster effectively market the film because the poster is eye catching and new adaptation of the original Horror-Zombie posters. This is exciting to look at and leaves a bit of mystery surrounding the content of the film whilst clearly showing the genre of the film and age rating. A wide range of media, especially social media, can help when attempting to reach a target audience that have been fragmented by new technologies.
My target audience is 15 to 18 year olds and in order to reach this audience I would create Facebook and twitter pages and begin to spread rumors about the film online causing word of mouth to be the way in which more and more people hear about my film. A wide range of film have become very successful by doing this, for example The Blair Witch Project and The Paranormal Activity series have become over night successes by using social media and word of mouth to become famous.
In addition to using social media I would also put my poster in more obvious places such as on buses because It is more of a conventional way to market a brand but in addition to this I would also create a marketing stunt and paint onto walls in famous places the title of the film run, in addition to this I would pull a another marketing stunt such as the zombie prank in New York that the makers of The Walking Dead did in order to promote the new series (www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tLGz7073Vg) .Although this would have leagl complications it would make the film more controversial and create free advertising. In addition to this marketing stunts such as the one I would also have advertisements of television of teasers linked to the film during popular television programs that people aged 15-18 would watch such as The Walking Dead and Game Of Thrones, because these programs are forever increasing in popularity.
In conclusion I believe that the combination of my main task, my film Run and my ancillary tasks, the movie poster and the magazine review effectively market my product to my target audience, because i have identified the ways to reach my target audience and done that and then i have gone further and created marketing stunts in order to make my film more known.
I addition to this I believe that I have successfully have began to create a brand that could evolve into being as popular as the walking dead.

Roles and Responsibilities
When creating the film, i was the Director, and lead actor.I edited the film by myself. In addition to this i also created the sounds and received help by Jovell Williams when doing this. I we each created are film posters individually. When creating the magazine review the basic layout was created by Jack Cotton who had help from Joe Murphy, i then added in all the writing, and photoshoped the fonts, photoshoped the images and put it all together.

Branding
The Importance Of Branding
We usually associate the term ‘brand’ with a product that has a unique, consistent and well-recognised character e.g Coca-Cola, MG, Weetabix. These brands conjure up images in the minds of consumers. Large organisations work hard to raise the power and status of their brands and guard them carefully against unlicensed use or unfair imitation.
A brand usually carries a logo or trade mark by which it is recognised. Many shoppers can easily identify a Heinz can or a Kellogg’s packet, for example, and it is the brand which is drawing them towards the product. Developing a corporate brand is important because a positive brand image will give consumers, and other interested stakeholders, confidence about the full range of products and activities associated with a particular company.
In relation to film's and more importantly the Horror genre brand is also very important. In resent times the horror genre has gradually become more and more popular since it started in the 1920's. Films makers have caught on to the fact that watching horror films has become fashionable in a way, and this has lead to film producing a wide range of merchandise related to the film and this has caused a brand, for example the Friday the 13th franchise has developed a wide range of poster and t-shirts so when you see the iconic hockey mask or here the name Jason you relate it to the franchise.
This is the same for the Zombie Genre, television programs such as The walking dead has made the genre extremely popular and they have also marketed the program as a brand bringing out t-shirts, collectables ( http://www.goldlabel.com/the-walking-dead ).

Music Featured Within Run
I have created and adapted a range of songs for my film.
I have edited together a range of news reports and sound effects to do with zombie attacks and other major reports and distorted them and mixed them with other noises related to my genre such as screaming. This has been used during the opening title of my film and is also featured during the end credits and the shot featured at the end of my film.

This music is my acoustic version of Mad World originally made by Gary Jules. I have decide to use this song within my film as part of my lead character, Charlie's death because it is notably one of the sadist songs to have been made and when researching what music to use within the film it was the most popular choice.

This is the music played through out the film, it is my own version of a track played within another famous zombie film, I have used it to build tension and make the whole film more dramatic.
(I have changed it within the film so that the build ups are at the correct part)

Sound Effects For The Zombies (The Infected)
This is the sound that I have used for the Zombie's that are featured within my film.
Although you do not see the Zombie's within the film they are implied through sound and dialog.
https://soundcloud.com/natashajchandler/zombie-horde
This is the sound that I have used in the scene where the lead character dies, I have chosen to use sound and not incorporate the image of her actually being killed because of the 15 age rating and are target audience.
This sound was made by my recording a friend of mine eating chicken an I have adapted it in order to heighten the sound and make is sound overall more gruesome.
